I have had this problem for about a month now and I have been trying to figure out what the issue is. The fan(s) on my Asus GTX 980Ti Matrix started to speed up and then slow down every few seconds and then will spin fast for about 3 to 5 seconds then slow down and do it again. Any idea on what is going on? It will stop when I am playing a game and the GPU is being utilized but as soon as I stop playing, it continues. I'm out of ideas and have exhausted all research on the internet.
System specs:
GPU: Asus Matrix Platinum 980Ti
MOBO: Asus Maximus Formula VIII
CPU: Intel Core i7 6700K OC'd to 4.5GHz Air cooled with Noctua NH-U12S for now til I can afford a custom water loop
Mem: G. Skill Trident Z 32gb
PSU: EVGA SuperNova 1200w (overkill I know)
Case: NZXT Phantom 530
