ROG GT-AC5300 Losing Game Boost QoS profiles randomly

My GT-AC5300 is randomly loosing all my Game Boost settings every now and then. I am using the latest firmware 3.0.0.4.384_20308

I set up the priorities, and everything works kind of ok, (not the best QoS TBH). Then after some days of using it I can feel that my games have more ping than usual and I check out my settings and they are gone, I have to enable Game Boost again, and set up the priorities. (All my clients are gray and Game Boost is disabled. All other WiFi settings remain)

Am I the only one with this issue? Could it be a hardware malfunction? Or I'm missing something?

I will appreciate some help.

You are not alone in this one. I am having same issues. Check System Log and you will see errors regarding QoS. Try switching to Custom QoS and then activate Game Boost. Sometimes it works others don't. I can't figure out yet what is the problem.

This is getting even worse.

(I did try to use custom and any other possible setting... Still getting the same error)

Now, just some days after writing the first post, here you can see how the GT-AC5300 have just forgot and reset all my Game Boost preferences.

Hi, and thanks for the answer.

I had a look at my system log, and looks like there's an error with app rule catid value and some config syntax error at line 22

There is no fix until next firmware if they sees this and I know they do. Just Disable Game Boost and wait for fix. And select Custom QoS profile while arranging for your needs.

Had the same issue and the same error in my log.

Its my understanding that the 'enable Game boost' toggle is just a one-click way to enable adaptive QoS and to select 'Gaming'; therefore, when this happened to me, I disabled everything, enabled QoS manually, set to Custom, saved, and then switched the QoS to Gaming. It has been stable for a week for me, and no log error.

Gaming boost doesn't activate Adaptive QoS. It is separate function.

Game Boost is a one-click feature to enable a combination of QoS features (packet and bandwidth prioritization) specific to gaming; therefore, Game Boost is QoS. Whether its adaptive or traditional doesn't matter because that is simply specifying whether the router intelligently sets the bandwidth limits for bandwidth prioritization via internal speed testing or the user manually sets them. Also, adaptive QoS is the default for the router; therefore, If you enable Game Boost, it will enable QoS (adaptive QoS) and will set the mode to gaming. Likewise, if you disable QoS it will disable Game Boost. Go ahead, try it.

Ha ha ha... So by the end of your "statement" what have you said, uh?! :confused: You said just like me but rephrased.

So let me rephrase my self. "Game boost" toggle is separate function from Adaptive QoS! And one more thing once again, Game BOOST doesn't activate automaticly Adaptive QoS! It activates QoS that is set by the user,YOU TRY IT.

And please don't tell other people what they know and what they don't because at the other side you DON'T know who it is 😉

Wow.... you are dense. Game boost is a toggle that simply enables other features. Its not its own seperate function. Asus could remove the Game boost toggle and you'd still be able to setup the same functionality, it just wouldn't be a single click operation.

Adaptive QoS is the default setting of QoS; therefore, by enabling Game Boost which also enables QoS, so is adaptive QoS being set. You can modify the QoS setting to whatever you want, adaptive or traditional, and Game Boost won't change it because Game Boost isn't anything special, its simply an on or off.

Why is this so difficult for you to understand?
