Microphone barely audible and robotic

AeonGenesis

Hello. I recently built a brand new PC with an Asus Maximus VIII Hero Alpha motherboard. Everything is working fine except for the audio through my microphone. The the audio from the computer sounds fine, but any recording of my voice that I do or when I talk over a VoIP software like Discord, my voice sounds extemely distorted and that's if it can be heard at all. It cuts in and out all the time.

I've completely uninstalled the drivers and have installed different versions of the Realtek drivers. From the Asus website to the official Realtek website, they are all giving me the same results. If I just use the default, generic windows driver, the audio sounds fine through my microphone, albeit with noise in the background that I can't get rid of cause of the lack of features in the generic driver.

This is a link of what it sounds like when I speak through my microphone-

I've been trying to find a solution for this for a week now and haven't been able to. I'm about to just go buy a sound card to just be done with it. But I figured I'd try here first.

Thanks a lot for any insight you can provide.
