Special ASCII characters using the Laptop number pad

Anyone know how to get special characters like degree, copyright, and trademark symbols using the laptop KB and number pad?

My usual ALT+0176 code (for degree) is not working when I use the laptop's number pad. It DOES work when I use an EXTERNAL keyboard with number pad.

Thanks!

PS
I asked ASUS support. They have not been helpful yet.

Google it!

5 Seconds, this is what I got:

I did, that doesn't work. My laptop has a number pad integrated in the mouse/track pad. Also tried FN, and FN+ALT. Still doesn't work.

What ASUS laptop do you have?

Did you happen to run the Keyboard Firmware Update Tool V2.1.3 found at the bottom of the ASUS Download Center website?

This hotfix has caused a number of problems.

I did not. I have not updated anything manually, except for windows updates, since getting the machine 3 weeks ago. The only major thing I have done was add a 2TB SSD.

Does everything look normal in Device Manager/Keyboards?

I have an external keyboard attached.

Thanks for your help. Yes, it all looks fine. And works properly with an external KB. Just the ALT+Code on the laptop keypad does not work.82083
