Help reinstalling windows 11 after hard drive failure

I have a G773CX-XS97 and the hard drive died.. (was a 980 pro) I got a new one and put it in. It shows up in bios correctly but when I put in the windows installation usb I got from micro center it doesn't show any storage devices to install windows on... is there any fix for this? I asked their tech support and they gave me a run around.. I don't have another computer on hand.

This seems to be normal. I remember no boot drive showed when installing windows on my Seagate Firecuda 530 and ROG Strix Z690-F Gaming Wifi.

Try booting from your windows installation usb drive.

Upon rebooting, windows installation setup should begin. You should be able to see your drive and format it.

Once windows is installed, it should show your 980 pro with "Windows Boot Manager" in front of it as the first boot device.

Maybe I am not communicating the issue correctly. I am able to boot the USB to get to the windows 11 installation. However after selecting I want to install in English and English keyboard etc… when I get to the part of where to install windows 11 (on some kind of storage device like the SSD) it does not show my 4TB SSD or any storage as an option to install windows on.  I ran a diskpart and disk list and it only shows one (which I’m assuming is the USB) of 28GB as an option to format.. my suspicion is it’s missing some kind of file that allows it to detect storage devices.. again if I go into bios it does show the SSD with correct amount of storage available.

Looking over the specs of your laptop, can you help me confirm your laptop came with two ssd's in Raid 0?

It's possible you may need to install the ASUS IRST driver. 

IRST - Support (asus.com)

Here are the steps I came across to installing the IRST driver with the windows installation.

1. Download the IRST driver from the ASUS Download Center.
2. Extract the driver package and save the folder to a USB storage device.
3. Connect the USB flash drive to your computer and press the power button.
4. When you see the screen “Where do you want to install Windows” and Windows cannot find any drives, click [Load driver].
5. Select the folder where you extracted the IRST driver earlier, select the [RST] folder, and then click [OK].
6. Select [Intel RST VMD Controller], and then click [Next] to start installing the driver.

Does this get your drive recognized and windows installing?

No raid I just have 1 SSD in right now. I made sure it’s configured not in any raid. However I didn’t try the driver you listed can I use 2 usbs to do that? The windows installer is read only if that makes sense (using the second USB to install driver)

Yes, you'll have to put the IRST driver on a separate usb drive and insert it into a usb port.

In the steps, during installation where no drives are showing, it says to click load driver and it should let you navigate to your usb flash drive.

Unless it's something specific with ASUS laptops, you shouldn't need the IRST driver for a single ssd, although it can improve performance on a single drive.

So, I have a question, have you reset the bios to defaults?

I see your laptop has the firmware TPM module, if you've reset the bios to defaults, check to see that PTT is enabled.

In the bios, Advanced tab, PCH-FW Configuration, Enable PTT.

This is a security setting and must be enabled for windowss 11 to install.

You may laso want to try disabling
