G751 Vertical Line in Screen

Some time ago my wife's 751 developed a vertical line occasionally. Should then would "rub" the screen and it would go away. Over time it became permanent, and shortly later doubled in thickness. What do you guys think, new screen or ribbon cable? Pic for reference.

Thanks for the part numbers 🙂 Based on the next to nothing details i provided, do you think the cause is the screen that went out or bad cable? Would rather not buy both, but understand that might happen because "troubleshooting".

Also, this model predates the GSYNC "upgrade". To enable that, would that involve a motherboard hardware change, or simply the screen and drivers?

You failed to properly identify your laptop. Is it a G751JL, G751JM, G751JY. I just gave you a couple display screen P/N so you could select yourself.

It is your display screen that is failing, replace. If while you have it torn down, you find the cable faulty, replace that as well.

The GSYNC capability is more than display screen and drivers.

Good Luck
