G74SX-XR1 Model / Trying to get the trackpad driver to work 100%

Hey everyone, I've browsed this website in the past as it's been very helpful! Alas I'm finally getting tired of the touchpad not working 100% as designed.

I bought the laptop second hand a few years ago and it literally has given me zero issues. Until recently I've had about a handful of BSODs which I think are stemming from my Wireless Rechargeable Sony Pulse Elite headset. Only when it's plugged in, just has a hard time trying to stay plugged in via USB/miniUSB. So I get the sound notification it's been connected or disconnected a lot. I'm pretty sure that's a headset issue though (it even hisses at me sometimes.)

Anyway the point of this thread is for the trackpad. As it stands I have 2 drivers installed on my windows 7-64 under mice. The 1 for my HID Logitech, and just a standard Microsoft PS/2 for the trackpad.
I was looking at some of the threads on here recently and tried to ensure installing the proper driver. Installing the drivers were no problem, but they didn't change anything seemingly.

I have the SYN0A17 hardware however. So I've tried installing a couple different versions of Synaptics drivers to get it working. Like a 15.2 version (someone from another thread with the same hardware said that worked for them, although that was probably the newest driver they had at the time also,) and also a 17.x version. Yet neither seemed to make a difference.

Obviously the 2 finger scrolling would be nice. But I'm more looking to get this to work so I can simply disable the trackpad with the FN + F9 when I'm gaming.

Let me know if you need any more information about my system or anything!

Cheers, thanks for looking

synaptics got different drivers for different windows version.
make sure you get the right one for you win version from Asus official support page.
as synaptics touchpad isn't asus tech, synaptics themself offers another driver package... so you can get another type of driver package ( the UI and option avaliable are different then what Asus driver offers ).
just google for synaptics drivers you'll get to their official site and download page.

thank you for reply. i did download that latest driver there for my OS. 3rd one from top. i uninstalled whatever driver my keyboard had, restarted, it obviously installed a generic microsoft one, then i installed that 1. did the same thing for a 15.xx version of the synaptics driver. but yielded no results other than saying it was a synaptics keyboard in devices instead of generic ps/2.

as for downloading drivers from asus official support page, do you have a link by any chance? i just googled asus g series drivers and found this --> https://rog.asus.com/downloads/rog-drivers/

but my model (g74sx) doesnt have an active page anymore it seems
