Thank's guys--I am breaking my head with this problem nearly 6 months asked in most of the forums still no help.

My system,Asus G74SX -91234Z, problem is Audio coming from both laptop and speakers when headphone plugged in!!

Actually the system is not DETECTING when the headphone plugged in-The pop up message which normally appears saying headphone plugged in is not appearing at all.

*I have updated the realtek audio driver
*Completely restored to factory settings
*My REALTEK AUDIO manager UI looks like this ,without having much options!!45903

Hi,

I'm no genius and not sure if your notebook has the same issue, but hope the information copied below from an older post can help you for this problem which may be hardware related.

================
If you think there might be a hardware issue with the jack, you may want to check this older link http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?1313-Asus-G60Vx-headphone-jack-stuck-quot-on-quot&highlight... and look for post #6 on 02-03-2011 02:15 PM which will take you to another forum.
Check post #337 on 13th February 2010, 09:13 AM at the other forum to see if it's something you want to look into and sorry for the wild goose chase.

If it helps, you might want to look into some USB headphones and avoid the headphone jack?

If that link isn't working, the other link from that post is copied below.

Edit 2/26/15: Unfortunately, looks like the page above has been moved or is no longer available.

Not sure if you can get out-of-warranty service for that unit locally, but that's another idea although not sure how long it will last.

Sounds like it's a stuck pin in the jack, you can try something similar to the "macbook red light fix" but the end all solution would be to just replace the audio board.

It took me a bit to find, the part numbers you're looking for are 60-N56AU1000-D02 69N0L8A10D02-01

Here's a link to the cheapest one I found

Thank you sooooo much for giving me the part number bro..really appreciate your hard work. I tried with tooth pick, looked in to some video regarding macbook red light fix....finally as you said ,replacing the audio board will be the good solution..is it possible to replace with any other high quality audio board..hoping some good board will be there for better sound ..instead of the one it came with.?

The audio board only transfers the sound from the mainboard. There's really not a good way to enhance the audio unless you go with a different sound card. Asus has a couple that you could use, but i would think it's easier and better in the long run to replace your defective port with the good one.

I would like to replace with a good one,as i am a budding audiophile i give importance to music-how i know which sound card is compatible with my laptop? do you recommend some good sound card?
