Will Upgrading My RAM affect my Overclock?

Fox1966

Hello,

I have a Maximus X Hero Wi-Fi AC motherboard, paired with an Intel 8700 CPU, and currently 16 gigabytes of RAM, Trident Z RGB F4-3200C16D-16GTZR. I have my CPU overlocked to 4.7 ghz, and it has been running FLAWLESSLY for years.

However, I'd like to upgrade my ram from 16 gigabytes to 32 gigabytes. Admittedly, I am not "overclocker savvy" and don't want to mess up my CPU overclock (which took me forever to figure out how to do back when I did it several years ago.)

If I upgrade my RAM, and keep the same kind but get 32 gigabytes (F4-3200C16D-32GTZR) and just replace my two 8 gigabyte RAM modules with two of the 16 gigabyte RAM modules without changing anything else, would my CPU overclock be affected? I am hoping it would be as simple as just replace the RAM modules, without changing or affecting anything else, basically plug and play. But, wanted to ask to be sure. Any help would be appreciated 🙂
