Wireless Drivers 22.160.0.4, VPN and Windows Wireless Icon. Good News.

I have a Z690 Hero running Win 11 Pro.

I think it's the same for most people, that if you use a VPN, then the Windows taskbar wireless icon does not show the correct symbol. It indicates that wi-fi is not connected, even when it is.

Because I have the Intel Driver and Support Assistant installed, this morning I noticed that Intel wireless driver 22.160.0.4 is available.

So here is the good news - I installed this and not only did the w-fi still work, but Windows now displays the correct w-fi 'connected' icon.

Celebrate people, this is a happy day! You can download the latest driver directly from Intel if you like from here:

Sorry if I was premature. It is actually the Bluetooth driver that appears to have been updated according to the Intel Driver and Support Assistant page. I've included a screenshot from my system.

Maybe the latest driver didn't fix this issue after all. I use Nord VPN and that software was also updated a couple of days ago.

Anyway, something has very recently got my icon working correctly. I noticed the correct icon as soon as I updated the Intel driver, so I'm still happy, but perhaps I am wrong about the reason? If somebody works out exactly why the icon has changed, please let us all know...

Intel never fix anything. Must be software side.
