Type C speed issues

Motherboard: ROG Crosshair VIII Hero (WI-FI)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X

RAM: G.Skill Trident Z NEO Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4 3600 CL14-15-15-35

GPU: AMD Radeon™ RX 7900 XT

ISSUE:

Seems the rear I/O usb type C transfers at a much slower rate than the front panel type C

Is this by design or an issue with say drivers?? Just kind of annoying/ugly as I wanted my cables to be out the back not hanging off the front of my case.
