Strix Z690-E ... which M2 slot for fastest boot?

New Asus, ROG, Strix, Z690-E, w/i9 core en route.

I plan on installing Kingston KC3000 PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD - High-Performance Storage for Desktop and Laptop PCs -SKC3000S/512G.

I plan on installing G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin SDRAM DDR5 6000 (PC5-48000) CL36-36-36-96 1.35V Dual Channel Desktop Memory Model F5-6000J3636F16GA2-TZ5RK (Matte Black)

Because the Z690-E has several M2 slots, is there a M2 slot that will perform faster as the boot drive?

If you have considerations about my selection of components please advise.

Thank you, Kerry

I can't answer your initial question, but would advise you to read the manual regarding the impact of using the top, (M2_1) socket on the speed of the top PCI-E slot, (forces it to 8x.)

Thanks dees.

I believe I have the M.2 plugged into the M2.2 slot which I read is faster.* Correct? Not correct? I've made it my boot drive because of this speed.

* Clearly, my terribly slow booting using the M2.2 slot could be the cause.

I am looking in the manual (Asus Rog Strix "E" z690 DDR5) and I do not see any mention of the M2_1 socket affecting the speed of the top PCI-E Slot (where I have my
3090 nVidia card located. GPU-Z Bus Interface shows PCIe x 16 4.0 @ x8 4.0 (I'm not sure how to read that but I assume the x16 is accurate, but then again the subsequent numbers must mean something too). Any help is appreciated

EDIT: I just found it buried on page vii, WOW, great catch my friend. I guess I'm going to have to find another home for my boot M.2. I will take out the Samsung Pro 2TB from M2_1 and swap it to the M2_2, and then put the Samsung Pro 2TB that was in M2_2 down to M2_3. THanks!!!!!

Performance of 8x PCIE 4.0 vs 16x PCIE 4.0 is fairly minimal, so personally, I'd evaluate whether it's worth moving the drive at all.

Hi. I have a Z790 H. With the same query, are we saying I should use my M2_2 socket for my boot drive ?
