Hello Everyone,

I am going to go ahead and hijack the village idiot spot for a few days here if that's ok? Here is my problem, I hate my computers preformance as much as it hates me, its ugly, it's sad, and it's depressing, 2 years ago it got me by, but today.... No one should try to play a mmo @ 10 fps.....

My knowledge is extremely limited but I like to think I pick things up quick, so without further adooooo ...

Budget: $1500.00
Main uses of intended build: MMO
Parts required: all of them
Previous build information (list details of parts): I don't want to use much if any of it. (dell inspiron totally stock)
Monitor resolution: HP S2031 Series Wide LCD Monitor 1600x900? (i'm not sure I know how to answer this one and feel rather goofy for it)
Storage requirements: !?! enough?
Will you be overclocking: Don't plan to but the build should have the option.
Any motherboard requirements not really, that I know of other than what the big boys use.
Extra information about desired system: Whether or not my parts are going to work.

(I hope I did that right. )

Here's what I've come up with. (all prices are via newegg)

Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero LGA 1150 Intel Z87 $199.99
GPU: Asus HD7970-DC2-3GD5 Radeon 3GB 384-bit GDDR5. $309.99
PSU: Corsair HX series HX750 ATX 12V 2.3/EPS12V 2.91 Modular. $109.99 (promo) (129.99 otherwise)
CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K Haswell 3.4GHz LGA 1150 84w Q core $239.99
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X series 8GB (2x4GB) 240 Pin SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) $72.99
SSD: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5'' SATA 3 $89.99
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 ST3000DM001 3TB 7200 RPM 64MB CACHE SATA $119.99
CD/DVD Rom Asus SATA (read only I think) $18.99
Microsoft windows 7 professional sp1 64-bit OEM $139.99
Coolmaster 240M RL-S24M-24PK-r1 240mm all in one liquid/water cooler. $104.99

And I want to wrap all that up in a Rosewill R5 Black ATX mid tower case. $69.99

mind you there is shipping in there that is going to push me over my $1500.00 so ideally i'm looking for ways to trim some fat without giving up too much from what is there.

Anything jump out at anyone as "wtf is this guy thinking?" Any pats on the head in a "good newb!" fashion?

Major mistakes? oversights on my part? I want this to get delivered put together and to run smoothly .. I know it doesn't always go that way, but as little room for error would be reassuring... anyway..

what'cha all think?

Thank you so much for your input and time reviewing my first brain fart (well... we'll call it Revision # 2,456,153)

(side note, I think i'll have some professional help putting this together so don't sweat me blowing it up all by my self 😉 ) thank you again for reading.

*scratches head, http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1150/MAXIMUS-VI-HERO/M6H_devices_QVL_0703.pdf << is my boards qualified vendors list, but it seems like everything is either discontinued or out of stock, am I going about this the wrong way?

I ignored that list because basically couldnt find anything on it at my online vendors place and my current build ( week old ) is great

I used the same motherboard and its the best I have used. I put in yesterday the Corsair Hi100 watercooler for the CPU but I have no idea if it would fit in your case

Only 2 things I would suggest is go for a 240GB SSD and 16GB dual channel ram

btw : the village idiot is the person that doesnt ask
will

Sorry Nawesemo...you can't come here with a perfectly compatible list of PC parts that make up a killer rig and expect the "vilage idiot" spot...not going to happen;)

All looks good to me. If possible I would go for a 256GB SSD too...SSDs work best when they have a nice chunk of free space...last longer and maintain performance higher. It's easy to fill a 120GB unless you're super good with space management...

If you were thinking of ever going Xfire in the future you might want to look at an 850W PSU now..but the 750 you have will run the specs you have chosen now perfectly....

O K then 😄 "So the fun part comes when I get boxes and start craming them into a smaller box muhahahahah and when I'm done! "I'll smash it with a hammma!!" .... ( hehehe sorry got a lil carried away there "The emperors new grove") Thank you all for your responses, I feel better about my choices now.

I forgot to mention I'll be trying to throw x2 of these together so the 1500 is pretttttty hard (and it'll have to include shipping)

I'm really trying hard to avoid needing to flash bio's and things of the more technical nature, if at all possible, put it together turn it on, I stumble through bios set up, load operating system ... and update drivers (at least this is my weak understanding of what happens) I guess I'll be nagging ya'll when we get there. again thank you guys and I'll keep you posted as it goes.

You're off to a great start! Once you get everything assembled and working at stock settings, come back and let us walk you through overclocking it. You're gonna want to keep in mind that MMO's are very cpu dependent -- meaning no matter how good your graphics card is, mmo performance is largely driven by your CPU, so you're going to want to maximize your cpu speed. With that Maximus Hero and a little help from the experts on this forum, you should have no trouble punching that mmo up to 60+ fps on ultra settings. 🙂

thanks again, I'm sure some of you get pretty burnt out reading these ... but thank you for your input.

It took a bit of creative shopping to get all that under 1500 in new'egg... with the cases it's ringing in right around $1450...

But I've a few hours until this actually gets submitted... I'm fishing for more reassurance after making the changes from 120 gb ssd to the 240 gb.... and the psu getting a bit beefier, o and the upgrade in memory... it's all still pretty much the same with your recommendations, Last chance to scream "DONNNNNT DOOOOO ITTTTT!!!" ... anyone? anything?

ok, so what extras am I missing? will what I've got there come with everything needed? do Psu's usually come with the plug in? and thermal paste? I read a lot about the generic comes in the box not being too hot (or getting to hot I should say) ... what say you and ... if I just can't manage the good stuff immediately will I get by with generic out the box (i'm assuming my I-5 will come with some) .... uh... there were a few other "hummmm?"s somewhere but there just not coming to mind at the moment. (EDIT: this is where i subitted the first order without funds in my bank to cover it.... and then promptly canceling the order ..... it'll get explained further in the thread)
