Zephyrus M16 2023 (GU604VY) Operation with Lid Closed

Hey, I just wanted to ask if it's safe to use the laptop with the lid closed. I have it hooked up to a Thunderbolt 3 dock and an external monitor. It looks like the fans are exhausting out the back (and has even less restriction of airflow with the lid closed).

Thanks in advance!

Hi @ftansl ,

While closing the laptop screen does not affect the heat dissipation, the laptop's cooling system usually relies on the ventilation ports on the keyboard to intake air and lower the temperature of internal components.

When using high-performance software, it is recommended to avoid completely closing the laptop screen to ensure proper functioning of the cooling system and maintain an appropriate temperature.

If you use an external monitor, you can partially close the laptop screen to maintain sufficient cooling efficiency. This way, you can enjoy the convenience of an external display while still benefiting from the laptop's cooling capabilities.
Thank you for your understanding.
