REBAR ON = huge stutters (RTX 4000 laptops)

EDIT

"New Nvidia driver 546.17 only fixes the stuttering on Starfield and Cyberpunk - 2 games

The other 20 titles with rebar support will still stutter and upcoming new games with rebar support "

Rtx 4000, ultimate mode + rebar on = stutters still present, nvidia still didnt fix anything

Btw, i have tried dozens of older drivers and NONE fix the stutter issue with CP 2077

Vídeo of the massive stutter

https://youtu.be/awukpk9yqpw

As long as rebar is ON in the nvidia driver + the game + ultimate mode = it will stutter like the video in 1st post

I will try more REBAR supported games in the next weeks, there are 22 titles with rebar, and i bet ALL of them will stutter...

P.S

There are reports of this stutter problem with rebar + ultimate mode , since June 2023

4 months no fix in sight

https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/rog-strix-series/asus-rog-strix-scar-16-g634jz-rtx-4080-is-stuttering-...

P.S

I advice everyone to refund their laptops

Ask for the money back if they can't fix it

There's an issue regarding REBAR ON

Starfield and Cyberpunk 2.0 is stuttering with REBAR turned on

Example

https://youtu.be/awukpk9yqpw

Seems like every title with rebar support + ultimate mode = stutter

More games could be affected, there are 22 games with rebar support for now, only tested 2 titles yet

The issue is much more severe with starfield - stutters so huge that the game becomes unplayable

Those Starfield stutters are so huge that, one time, my screen started to randomly turning on and off - even on desktop/browsing the web - I needed to do a clean windows install for the random black screen issue to go away

Turning off rebar is not a solution, rebar should work, rebar gives more performance

Rolling back to older drivers, didn't do anything for me regarding Cyberpunk, cyberpunk stutters with all drivers I've tested, Starfield only stutters from 537.34 driver (because they turned on rebar with 537.54)

When the strange screen glitch happened with the screen turning off and on - rolling back didn't do anything

The only fix to stutter is to use Nvidia profile inspector and turn off rebar for that specific title

P.S - I use DDU everytime I update Nvidia driver

4090 scar 16 + lastest drivers + windows 11 updated

Hi there,

Can you verify what driver versions you’ve tried? I as you’ve put rolling back didn’t help.

I wouldn’t use DDU anymore unless you are already experiencing an issue, shouldn’t be any need. Other reports seem to suggest rolling back fixes the issue.

Did you recompile shaders after installing the new driver?

Rolling back fixes the stutter issue, for some titles like Starfield for example, because older drivers, doesn't contain the REBAR profile needed

So, if you use an older driver, rebar will not turn on, therefore the stutter will hot happen

Simply as that

536.99 Cyberpunk stutter | Starfield no stutter

537.13 Cyberpunk stutter | Starfield no stutter

537.34 Cyberpunk stutter | Starfield stutter

537.42 Cyberpunk stutter | Starfield stutter

I was playing Starfield perfectly fine at launch, before the 537.34 driver and 1.7.29 update, that driver and that update, turns on rebar on Starfield

Every game recompiles shaders after installing a new nvidia driver

Thanks for confirming. So rolling back does help in Starfield assuming REBAR isn't manually active within the profile.

There's a number of reports already online, hopefully NVIDA can address this soon.

Rolling back works with Starfield, but with Cyberpunk thats not the case

Maybe because Nvidia introduced rebar for Cyberpunk many years ago, so only a driver from 2 years ago or something, should resolve the issue, a driver with no rebar profile for Cyberpunk

No word from nvidia or Asus yet

People are reporting this issue since June

ALL Rebar supported games (22 games for now) stutter massively, on Asus 4080 and 4090 laptops, with ultimate mode

Video of the issue

The only solution is to manually turning off Rebar everytime a new GPU driver is out and therefore loosing the performance gains of using Rebar

I advice everyone to refund their laptops

Ask for the money back people

If they can't fix it, they have to refund

If disabling REBAR resolves the issue, it's almost certainly going to be a driver issue. As this issue is not specific to ROG laptops I can only advise that you keep checking with NVIDIA for an update and check any future driver release notes also.

But is Asus working with nvidia on this ? doesnt look like it...

imagem_2023-10-29_215221320.png

Nvidia thinks this only happens on scar 16 models...

P.S

Asus should pressure nvidia to do something about it, no?

P.S 2

One thing for sure, on my legion 7 3080, everything is fine, rebar works well...

Hi,

ASUS were already looking into the issue from when I last posted and NVIDIA are investigating the issue, so don't feel it's being ignored.

Can't speak for the Gigabyte issue, but I just took a look at the support site and it doesn't mention anything regarding REBAR.
