RT-AX89X going out of memory every 10 minutes (asd process?)

Hello, my router froze up overnight, so I rebooted it, and ever since the logs are showing that it is going OOM about every 10 minutes. First it starts spamming:

May 17 10:44:26 kernel: [ 5872.720019] wlan: [0:E:QDF] NBUF alloc failed 12107B @ dp_get_ppdu_desc:3430
May 17 10:44:26 kernel: [ 5873.235497] wlan: [0:E:QDF] NBUF alloc failed 12107B @ dp_get_ppdu_desc:3430
May 17 10:44:27 kernel: [ 5873.747543] wlan: [0:E:QDF] NBUF alloc failed 12107B @ dp_get_ppdu_desc:3430
May 17 10:44:27 kernel: [ 5874.259510] wlan: [0:E:QDF] NBUF alloc failed 12107B @ dp_get_ppdu_desc:3430

Then it looks like a high memory killer kicks in and kills a process called asd:

Looking back at when the router locked up initially overnight, it seems like it tried to look for a firmware update automatically around 4am, (which is strange because I have auto updates turned off), then started spamming the 'NBUF alloc failed' message:

I can't speak for all posts here, but I downgraded the firmware and my system is good for now.   The other solutions do not seem to be related to the core issues presented by my logs.   Just my humble opinion.

I'm experiencing the same issue here all day today. Getting "no space left on device" in the logs. I ssh'd to the router and see that the "asd" process is spiking. I did a full factory reset, same problem. I'm not wanting to flash with outdated firmware or beta firmware. Hoping ASUS fixes this quickly.

You can kill the process, I did to no ill effect (code borrowed from SNB Forums). Logs are now totally clear and CPU/memory usage is normal. They probably pushed a bad asd update.

kill -SIGSTOP $(ps | grep '[a]sd$' | awk '{print $1}')

Having same issue, started around 2:42 am pst

Rolling back to the old firmware didn't help. I still saw CPU cores individually spiking to 99% while RAM climbed to 100%.

Went to Beta and I'm 10 minutes in and CPU / RAM acting normal so far

I installed the beta, as restarts didn't resolve the issue after all. After 2 hours memory is at 43% and CPU cores are between 0-20%.

I have the same problem and the same logs. I have to reboot my RT-AX89X router every 10 minutes for the wifi network to work

Issue started for me around 8PM EST after my router rebooted. I rolled back to the previous firmware version and I was still seeing out of memory messages, but it didn't lock up.  I updated to the beta and it appears to be stable. But I'm not holding my breath. At least I can continue working.

This issue seems to be resolved with this beta version https://www.asuswebstorage.com/navigate/a/#/s/7BC17C7B02F545F9B1BCCAB8924C9C4D4

Been stable for awhile now

I have killed process "asd" and it seems fine for now. Memory used dropped to 50%
