Hi Everyone,

I have updated my monitor firmware but nothing has changed. MCM104 is currently installed, but only MCM103 is available on the Asus website! Did any of you have that too?

Have any of you guys experience screen going black for 2-3 seconds after turning the monitor on. And then the picture comes back. I'm currently on MCM103

Yup, started recently to have this. Also MCM103.

Honestly I have tried everything from switching cables from DP to Hdmi. Changing settings in the monitor. And it still happens. I'm not sure if I should return it. Or just cross my fingers and wait for an firmware update to hopefully fix issue.  It seems as though there alot of us effected by this issue. Not only this model but also the PG32UCDM

Hi @JERRYTwoTIMES @john_nelson ,

To help us better troubleshoot the intermittent black screen issue with your PG32UCDP monitor, we would like you to confirm the following:

  1. Firmware version: Does this black screen issue only occur after updating to firmware version 1.03?
  2. Connection cables: Does the black screen occur with both HDMI and DisplayPort cables?
  3. Specific scenarios: Are there any specific software, games, or operations that are more likely to trigger a black screen? Please describe the scenario so we can better understand the problem.
  4. Connection method: Please confirm that your monitor is directly connected to the graphics card and that the graphics card driver is updated to the latest version.
  5. Other devices: If you connect the monitor to other devices (such as a laptop), does the black screen problem still occur?
  6. OSD settings: Please go to the OSD menu, find "System setup" > "OSD Setup" > "DDC/CI", turn it off, and then check if the black screen still occurs.

If the above issues still cannot be resolved, please provide the following information so we can assist you further:

  1. Video of the issue: If possible, please record a video of the screen going black. (MP4 format)

Device information: Please provide your computer specifications, including:

  1. Operating system version (e.g., Windows 10, macOS)
  2. Graphics card model and driver version

Thank you.

Providing detailed device specifications (MB/CPU/GPU/PSU, etc.) and the respective driver versions, OS version, and BIOS version will help us analyze the issue more effectively.

1. Yes

2. Yes

3. Black screen happens after I turn on the monitor. The picture will come on after the initial power up. Then the screen goes black for about 3-5 sec. Then the picture comes back. It doesn't happen after that. I have not experienced it during gameplay or web browsing.

4. Yes it is.

5. I have not tried connecting to a laptop only my pc.

6. DDC/CI is turned off and it still happens when I turn it on.

Hi @JERRYTwoTIMES ,

thank you for your reply. In order for our backend team to verify the issue, please assist us by recording the process when the issue occurs and provide the video file in MP4 format for our reference.

Also, please confirm the current resolution and refresh rate of the monitor. If you adjust these settings, does the issue get resolved?

Additionally, please send us the product serial number of the monitor via private message. Thank you.

Providing detailed device specifications (MB/CPU/GPU/PSU, etc.) and the respective driver versions, OS version, and BIOS version will help us analyze the issue more effectively.

I have returned the monitor already. Thank goodness for amazon. And I re purchased it. In my testing with the new one. 1. I did not do the firmware update to mcm103. I left it at stock with mcm 105 2. I also did not change the refresh rate in the nvidia control panel to put the monitor at 240. I left it at 60hz. I only adjust the refresh rate in game settings when I'm playing.

I feel like those 2 things have a huge impact on why the monitor was black screening for me. Knock on wood. The second monitor I have had for a week now. No issues at all with black screens.  Thanks for all your help CSA.

  1. Firmware version: Mine was shipped with 1.03.
  2. Connection cables: It has occurred on both of the given cables.
  3. Specific scenarios: Regular (Chrome) web browsing when this has started to happen usually. When it starts to happen, usually it then happen multiple times in a row (every few minutes) until rebooting the computer or monitor. Once rebooting the monitor helped, the other time it didn't.

Now it hasn't happened for a day or two at all. Previously when this happened was when I had just bought the monitor (9th October), then went away after that said fiddling with cables and now it is back after all this time. Haven't touched cables or setttings.
  4. Connection method: They always are.
  5. Other devices: Macbook Pro M1 connected with USB-C. No issues with that.
  6. OSD settings: I have this greyed out, so I assume it is off.

I'll try to video if it happens again.
