Hey @MoKiChU
Since your update BIN is the *exact same* as the one they have in official package, figured I'd ask you about something odd I noticed while testing, to get you an updated script -- I'm not sure if it's a BIOS issue, or ME issue:

PS D:\Users\sakata\Downloads\Intel_ME_v14.0.45.1389> .\FWUpdLcl64.exe -save ME-FW-backup.bin
Intel (R) Firmware Update Utility Version: 14.0.45.1389
Copyright (C) 2005 - 2020, Intel Corporation. All rights reserved.

Error 357: Restore Point Image was requested, but it is not allowed because CSE is in Recovery Mode.

Error 329: Restore Point Image Failure. Reboot may be required.

PS D:\Users\liath\Downloads\ME_Intel_v14.0.45.1389>

I'm hoping that the Intel FW updater tool is just being weird, or there is something simple to fix.

Any ideas?

[edit] Here you go, if you're interested - I updated the install script.

Probably a little overkill, but it makes some parts easier to deal with.
-Automatically requests elevation if it is not started with elevation.
-Can just edit the 5th line when putting out a new update.
-Does a backup of the current FW *before* going ham.... or attempts to, I get the above error, but I'd already updated FW and BIOS.
-Handles errors a bit more gracefully. Also shuts down a little better than the -forcereset option does.
-Has a little bit of C.Y.A. -- just in case.

I have the same error
Error 23: Communication error between application and Intel(R) ME module.
Error 329: Restore Point Image Failure. Reboot may be required.

Could you provide a little more info? Does it not back up before you installed ME firmware, or after?
Also, what BIOS are you running? Did you run the backup command on your own or save my version of the script and run it? And with official firmware image, or the (should be identical) version from here?
I forgot to mention that myself; I'm running 0901. 0807 before. Not sure if any of the firmware versions could be backed up; I learned there was a backup function while writing the script update and testing it...
@OP: hoping you'll see this and say least be able to allay my fears of corrupt firmware.

Didn't backup before (I believe because of the same communication error)
I ran with 0901 (I am 1002 now)
I used your script
I tried both

I uninstalled me completely from device manager and the drivers reinstalled successfully but I just can't update further (neither driver nor firmware)

ps. I do not think my me firmware is corrupted or smth like that

This is "Corporate" 5M Version .
As far as I think this is for OEM hosts (such as HP/DELL).

Perhaps the latest version available is v14.0.46.1431 (Intel CSME 14.0 Consumer PCH-H A Firmware v14.0.46.1431)
source: https://www.win-raid.com/t596f39-Intel-Management-Engine-Drivers-Firmware-amp-System-Tools.html

In MSI MEG Z490 GODLIK, I saw that the beta bios(7C70v161) has 14.1 me fw .

Ok no problem,

I have an MSI MPG Z490 Gaming Edge Wifi, no new beta bios yet...

Thanks for your continued releases.

Have a question if you have the time -- is there any reason why the firmware can't be backed up?
When attempted, we get "Error 357: Restore Point Image was requested, but it is not allowed because CSE is in Recovery Mode."
Unfortunately my searching for the error doesn't turn up anything that I know how to resolve.
EDIT: Actually, this latest one did so without issue! Awesome!
