Hi everyone,
- Intel Chipset Drivers :
Install/Update Process :
Launch "CHIPSET_Intel_vxx.x.xxxxx.xxxx.exe"
- Intel MEI Drivers (Drivers Only) :
Install/Update Process :
Launch "Install.cmd" by right-click Run as admin > Automatic restart when install is done
- Intel VMD Drivers (Drivers Only) :
Install/Update Process :
- Press Windows key + X > Device Manager > Right-click on your Intel VMD device > Update driver > Browse my computer for driver software
- Browse... > Select the extracted drivers folder (VMD_Intel_v...) > Next
OS requirements : Windows 10 64 bit or more recent.
Hardware requirements : Motherboards with Intel 6xx/7xx series chipsets.
TIPS :
If you want to manage the drivers (remove old/unused drivers for example) that you have in your Windows DriverStore
Use Driver Store Explorer (Right click on "Rapr.exe" > Run as administrator).
If you want better interrupts delivery latency
Enable MSI (Message Signaled-based Interrupts) mode on all your supported devices (see the column "supported modes") with
MSI Mode Utility (Right click on "MSI_Mode_Utility_v3.exe" > Run as administrator).

Hi,
It’s my first computer that I’ve build and my mother board is z790 apex and my processor is intel 13900k so far as I read your previous replies before updating bios we have to update me but before that be have to update mei drivers sorry for asking it (you have probably answered it million times but can you give me a full update list in order (this is my 2nd z790 apex first one had issues and they replaced it I don’t want to screw it up this time)
thanks in advance

Hi,
Apart from the Intel ME Firmware which need to be updated after installing the last Intel MEI Drivers but before updating the last BIOS (Intel MEI Drivers > Intel ME Firmware > BIOS), the order to follow is the one listed in my index thread in my signature (or that I'll list them for you below), from top to bottom. Also you don't need Intel GNA Drivers & Intel iGPU Drivers if you don't enabled them in your BIOS, and you don't need Intel VMD Drivers if you disabled it in your BIOS (refer to this post : https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/intel-700-600-series/drivers-intel-chipset-mei-vmd-6xx-7xx/m-p/892949/...).
Here is the last BIOS for your ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Apex motherboard : https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/BIOS/ROG-MAXIMUS-Z790-APEX-ASUS-1203.zip
You need these firmware/drivers for your ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Apex motherboard :
[FIRMWARE] Intel ME (B660/H670/Z690/B760/H770/Z790)
[DRIVERS] Intel Chipset/MEI/VMD (6xx/7xx)
- Intel Chipset Drivers
- Intel MEI Drivers (Drivers Only)
- Intel VMD Drivers (Drivers Only)
[DRIVERS] Intel Serial IO (3xx/4xx/5xx/6xx/7xx)
- Intel Serial IO Drivers (Drivers Only) :
[DRIVERS] Intel GNA (5xx/6xx/7xx)
[DRIVERS] Intel Ethernet/WiFi/Bluetooth
- Intel Ethernet Drivers (Drivers Only) :
- Intel WiFi Drivers (Drivers Only) :
- Intel Bluetooth Drivers (Drivers Only) :
[DRIVERS] Realtek USB Audio (Intel 5xx/6xx/7xx & AMD 5xx/6xx/TRX40)
You have an ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboard with ALC408x codec, so :
You need Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS) from the first post of the thread.
Follow scrupulously your CLEANUP process then your INSTALL process, for the next drivers packages that I would release, you will can directly follow your UPDATE process.
[DRIVERS] Intel Arc GPU (Axxx) & iGPU (11xxx/12xxx/13xxx CPU)

Hi @MoKiChU I am hoping that you can help me please.
I can't install the mei or serial io drivers. I have a z790 apex and running windows 11.
I download the driver, extract the file, and as per your instructions right click on the install cmd file and run as admin,
A command prompt opens up briefly (half a second maybe) and the pc reboots immediately without installing the driver. How can i fix this please?

HI can you check device manager as image below
you can also check the board firmware on intel management

Thank you both for your responses. So I checked device manager and the driver version has not updated.
Out of curiosity when you install from a setup file it would install a program i.e in add remove programs it would show intel management components and the version e.g 2306.4.10 With your drivers it doesn't install the program right? So it would only show as updated in device manager or should the program show new version too in add remove programs? e.g if I install 2306.4.30 would it only show driver version in device manager or would the add remove program show the new version too?
@MoKiChU I moved the extracted folder from my downloads (where I normally extract and launch from) to my desktop and the same thing happens. The command prompt opens up quickly and the computer restarts with no driver installation taking place.
I know you're not here for i.t support but any other ideas what could be causing this?
I got that desperate that I did a fresh install of windows 11 with your drivers installed on a usb to try straight away and the same thing happened 😞

When you see (Drivers Only) in the drivers package naming, you won't see them listed in add/remove programs after installation.

Weird, anyway as workaround, you can install them manually through your Device Manager or through your Explorer by right click on all .inf below in the order I list them for you (one by one) > Show more options > Install > Wait for the message "The operation completed successfully" or for restart request :
Intel MEI Drivers :
MEI_Intel_vxxxx.x.x.x\MEI\heci.inf
MEI_Intel_vxxxx.x.x.x\SWC\DAL\DAL.inf
MEI_Intel_vxxxx.x.x.x\SWC\ICLS\iclsClient.inf
MEI_Intel_vxxxx.x.x.x\SWC\WMI\MEWMIProv.inf
Intel Serial IO Drivers :
SERIAL_IO_Intel_vxx.xxx.xxxx.xx\GPIO\iaLPSS2_GPIO2_ADL.inf
SERIAL_IO_Intel_vxx.xxx.xxxx.xx\I2C\iaLPSS2_I2C_ADL.inf

@MoKiChU Hi I did the workaround you suggested and that seems to have updated the drivers.
Thank you for your help. Much appreciated
