I've no knowledge of computer components, so if you read something wrong please tell me what i got wrong and what the correct thing is.

Hi, I got a OLD Dimension 9150 😄
My motherboard is: http://www.ascendtech.us/dell-fj030-dimension-9150-motherboard_i_mbdeldimen9150.aspx
It got a LGA775 socket on the motherboard, what is the best CPU (for gaming) i can have or is it better to take an adapter for LGA 1151?
You are supposed to smear the cooling paste behind the CPU on the pins, right?

Hi TheDragon 😄

I don't think there is any such thing as an adapter to allow an LGA 1151 CPU to adapt to LGA775.
I once had a QX9650 which was the quickest at the time, lol. That system has long been retired.
Do your RESEARCH.
First work on your budget. Choose the platform you wish. ASUS offer the skylake Z170 pro MB. Good for gaming.
Choose your processor and other Hardware (partpicker is a good place to go)
Post your system specs and we can look at it.
