Built this workstation with a "no expense" approach and focused on getting top of the lines parts. Had alot of availability issues, so was forced to over pay for some parts just to get them in a reasonable amount of time.
CPU Big price difference between the 3990X and 3970x, so saved myself $4-5k and went with the 3970x. *Soldout everywhere, found one on newegg shipped from China
CPU COOLER Liquid cooling is recommended for threadrippers due to the heat output, but to avoid a complicated inexpierenced liquid cooling setup, i thought id test my luck with the H150i ELITE and see what temps it gets me. Hold an idle of 35 and under load 40-45, so not bad at all.
MOTHERBOARD Am an asus enthusiast, so went with the top asus thread ripper board available. *Soldout everywhere, found one on newegg shipped from China
MEMORY Went with the best ram short of DDR5, they speak for themselves.
STORAGE x2 MP600 XT 2TB for OS Had the 1TBs AORUS in my previous build so i added them in here and combined them with the secondary MP600 2TB. Previously had a Western Digital 6 TB 3.5' for storage, but given the space restrictions in the case based on the way i mounted the AIO, i was pursuaded to upgrade to a 2.5 SSD 4TB to replace the 3.5 SATA.
CASE: Couldn't find the iCUE 5000T ANYWHERE, managed to over pay for one so it would come in a reasonable time with all my other parts. *Soldout everywhere, found one on ebay, over priced shipped from China
POWER SUPPLY: Given the no budget approach, i went with a 1600W just for overkill purposes.
VIDEO CARD: This is a work station, so had zero need to upgrade the graphics, so i used the card from my previous build which is more then enough for what i do.
MONITORS: Utilized the 2 from my previous build which are amazing still
SUMMARY: Solid build performance wise, should last me a good 3-4 years (upgrading parts as needed throughout the years like i did with my previous build), before having to a do a whole new build again.
I will probably down the line make the upgrade to liquid cooling when im bored. userbenchmark will be posted soon
