Hey....

Have stupid question,but need to know for sure!

I have HD7970 Matrix Platinum.....it will work in CF with R9 280X Matrix Platinum?

no, not stupid

you can, but use the 7970 mat plat as the main card.
both uses the same gpu clock.
however, 280x uses lower memory clock (6400). so try to put both 6600, if graphical error happens, put both at 6400.

But why HD7970 like main card?

It makes no difference in my view as the slowest card will set the speed as heichalot said.
