I bought a new motherboard (Asus x870-f gaming wifi), CPU (Ryzen 7800x3d) and RAM (Corsair Vengance 6400MHz). I installed all the components, updated the BIOS, installed Windows, installed all the newest drivers using Armoury crate + Nvidia geforce for GPU driver.
The PC then ran stable for about 1 month. The only weird thing was that if i put windows to sleep and then woke it again the PC would take like 45 seconds on a black screen before it booted and it would do a fresh boot. Aka. POST screen followed by windows boot screen and then not open any programs that were previously opened.
So i just never put my PC to sleep and just shut it down instead and then it ran smoothly. Altough some times the PC would stay on the black screen before POST for about 30-60 seconds when turning it on.
Fast forward to today and i was sick of the sleep issue and the black screen before POST. So i tried to google what could be the cause and found a post where someone said to disable Windows fast startup. I disabled it and put the PC to sleep. I woke the PC and shocker; it still went to the black screen.
I waited for a couple of minutes but it never POSTed, booted or anything; just stuck on a black screen.
So then i tried power cycling the machine a few times as that had worked previously, but nothing happened.
I then reset CMOS using the button on the back and then after some more power cycles the PC POSTed. It told me i had to go into the BIOS because of the CMOS reset, but i just saved and exited to try with default values. The PC tried to restart, but it was again stuck on the black screen.
I tried this a couple of times and changed some settings in the BIOS; enabling DOCP, changing Memory Context Restore to "enabled", etc. but every time i did save and exit it got stuck on the black screen again.
After that i tried reseating the GPU, RAM and CPU, but it still has the same problem with being stuck on the black screen forever.
The motherboard lights do the following before being stuck on black screen:
- orange DRAM light stays on for about 3 seconds and then turns off
- red CPU light stays on for about 3 seconds and then turns off
After i clear the CMOS and i get it to go to BIOS it has the following lights:
- orange dram light on for some seconds, then off
- some white light that is on for some seconds, then turns off
- some green light that is on for some seconds then turns off
I have also tried flashing the BIOS using the EZFlash tool in the BIOS, but it has to restart the PC before it starts the update and so it just gets stuck on the black screen as well before starting the update...
I feel like i have tried anything now and i would appreciate any help you can offer.
Edit:
I got it to boot just now by using the BIOS Flash USB port and button to successfully update the BIOS. After that it booted without issues
