How do I enable wake by mouse/keyboard?

Taomyn
Level 7
I recently built a new system using a STRIX X470-I GAMING (full specs below), and everything is running well - I updated to the latest BIOS yesterday, 0901.

I have one question, how do I enable the ability to wake the PC using the mouse/keyboard? My old system this replaces had the option in the BIOS to enable wake from USB device, but I cannot see the equivalent for this new motherboard.

If an option is not found, just leave it as is. What is wanting to be accomplished, as stated in your post, is already good to go.

Want to be able to switch the machine back on with either my keyboard and mouse, just like I have been able to do with my old MSI board machine, the Dell before that, and the Dell before that one.

Wish I had more information on waking the system from USB keyboard / Mouse. In windows I could wake from Hibernation using the USB ports next to the ethernet port but I cannot wake from Hibernation using other USB ports and after a few hours I cannot wake from sleep using ANY USB ports.

Hi Taomyn 🙂 From within Windows:

Go into Control Panel>keyboard>Hardware>Properties>Change settings>Power Management then check box to "Allow the device to wake the computer"
Do the same for your Mouse.

Thanks for the tip, but they are all set that way - there are multiple entries for mice and keyboard, and I checked each one.

System is AMD Ryzen 2700x on ASUS Crosshair VII wifi motherboard using BIOS 804 released on 07-20-2018.

In Ubuntu 18.04 to get ASUS Crosshair VII Wifi resuming from sleep with Logitech wireless keyboard connected to a 7 port powered USB 3 hub through the Asmedia 3.1 USB port I followed the instructions listed https://ubuntuforums.org/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=13758866
my system showed 57 different USB ports so I listed everyone of them in my usbwake file.
After reboot computer would not enter sleep, monitors would blink out for one second and then come back on.
In bios I disabled "fastboot", set Asmedia USB 3.1 controller to "enabled", set legacy USB support to "auto", set CSM to "auto", and still system would not go to sleep.
with Logitech wireless dongle directly into the Asmedia 3.1 USB port the computer is able to sleep and was able to wake from sleep.
Next I moved the Logitech dongle to different ports on the usb hub and to my surprise placing it in port #7 not only let the computer go to sleep but is able to wake it from sleep.

In windows 10 I changed from sleep to hibernate, disabled USB selective suspend from active power plan and checked the "allow this device to wake computer" from the keyboard properties "power" tab and then also disabled "fastboot" in bios.

here is an export of bios settings.

Just came here looking for a solution as I'm in the same boat - x470-I and I can't wake it up from sleep. Have checked the usual places, checked monitor settings, checked keyboard/mouse settings, and can't see any controls in BIOS that would help. I'm on 1103 if that helps.

Same here.

I simply think that WoL is the only way to actually wake this machine without physically pressing the power button.
Kinda irritating as i use mine as a console / media machine and it is tugged away under the TV, looking into some kind of raspberry pi - logitech harmony solution but it is expensive and a wake on USB could solve it all very cheaply.
