Issue

Ever since I updated my motherboard's BIOS to version 3004, I have been getting repeated WHEA errors. These errors come multiple times an hour, sometimes even more than one per minute. I first noticed this problem throught HWinfo64's sensor window telling me it registered a "PCIe Bus Error".

Windows Event Viewer shows me that all the errors are coming from two system devices, listed in Device Manager as "Intel(R) PCI Express Root Port #5 - A294" and "Intel(R) PCI Express Root Port #7 - A296". The vast majority are coming from Port #5 - A294, while a much smaller number come from Port #7 - A296.

I should mention that Event Viewer reports all these events as "A corrected hardware error has occurred." so it's not causing any noticeable problems with using the PC, but I still find it concerning.

Hello,

Does this occur at stock operation? (i.e. Optimised Defaults, no XMP or overclock).

I've reset the BIOS to default settings. No problems so far, but I'll run my machine for a day with the Optimized Defaults and see what happens.

I've now been running with the default settings for a whole day, and there have been no new WHEA errors. I'm going to try re-enabling my preferred BIOS settings one by one until I find the one causing the errors.

Found it; the setting causing the WHEA errors is named "PCI Express Native Power Management".

No worries, glad you found the culprit. If the issue occurs again when XMP is enabled I'd recomend Karhu Ramtest to test stability.
