Strix Z390, Can't get motherboard to load Windows 10 from USB

Seeking help from the ASUS gurus 🙂 Brand new build and a used, freshly formatted Crucial 1TB SSD. I see it in BIOS most of the time and I put a Win 10 USB stick and it goes through the motions. Then I get a message in the setup screen:

In a Windows set up pop up it says "Select the driver to install". below that it says "Load Driver - A media driver your computer needs is missing. This could be a DVD, USB, or Hard disc.

My build doesn't have a Optical drive so I put the DVD onto a flash drive and it still cant load it.

What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

Windows isn’t seeing the SSD you are trying to load to. If it was the install image on the USB it wouldn’t even boot. *Formatting the SSD first may be your problem if it’s not GPT. If you can reset the disk to factory state with no partitions and uninitiatized you may have better luck. Usually windows will prompt you that’s it’s going to erase the partitions if you continue. *Economy drives always seem to present more of a challenge installing an OS on than something like a Samsung 850 or 860 be it pro or EVO.*

I’m a bit uneasy with the see it most of the time statement. In BIOS make sure that the SATA port is enabled and it’s set to AHCI. Setting CSM to enabled and OS to other sometimes helps too. When you do this however it may or may not let you change it back to CSM disabled and UEFI OS. *

Hi Justin,

Ended up being the case USB 3.0 ports.... it didnt want to complete the install. Changed to USB ports on the Mobo and it worked. Highly upset that this ROG STRIX Z390- H motherboard didn't come with ANY M.2 mounting hardware, I need to find where I can get the Heatsinks and mounting hardware now
