Storage bandwidth sharing?

Been looking at some Z390 mobos and many of them share bandwidth between the M.2 and SATA storage ports.
Some disable certain SATA ports when certain M.2 ports are plugged in.

Is this true for these boards:

https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-Z390-F-GAMING/

Also, what's the functional difference bettween Z390-H and Z390-F. I can't tell from the comparison.

This should give a clear picture as to what is where and who shares what, Intel owns the chipset and all manufactures follow it. Only a question of little things like network and sound.
Problem is no matter what they all share the common connection to the CPU, the DMI bus which has 4 lanes.
Only way to get anything better is an AIC drive but then the question will be can you boot from it.

I have seen that diagram and it is more confusing than helpful.
Summing 24! PCIE 3 lanes, the SATA ports and whatever bandwidth the USB add up to vs DMI results in an absurd mismatch of bandwidth and in no way is it reasonable to assume that reflects reality.
Also, this directly contradicts that claim: https://hardforum.com/threads/intel-dmi-3-0-bottlenecks.1930465/

It seems to me the chipset offers a whole 24 extra lanes to play around with, which can easily be spread over enough M.2 ports and additional storage controllers to satisfy practically any reasonable use case(a 20 drive storage server on z390 not being one of those).
