ROG MAXIMUS XI CODE and M.2 (SOCKET3)

Good morning,

It has some effect on the speed of writing and reading, if I occupy the two slots M.2_1 (SOCKET3) and M.2_2 (SOCKET3)

M.2_1 (SOCKET3) = samsung 970 pro 512 gb

and

M.2_2 (SOCKET3) = samsung 960 evo 500 gb


then I only have the

PCIEX1 = Asus ROG strix RTX 2080 super 8gb

Are the M.2 both connected via the Z390 chipset? The CPU and chipset only have a x4 link, so having two fast NVMe drives is going to max that out.

It has some effect on the speed of writing and reading. According to the manual, if I have M. 2_1 installed, SATA1 is disabled, what happens when I have both inputs installed?

This is the Configuration I have

M.2_1 (SOCKET3) = samsung 970 pro 512 gb
M.2_2 (SOCKET3) = samsung 960 evo 500 gb
PCIEX1 = Asus ROG strix RTX 2080 super 8gb

You skipped part of it. That only applies if a SATA based M.2 drive is installed. Neither of your M.2 drives are SATA based, so SATA1 is operational just fine.

That's specifically stated in the first part of the manual. Page (x)

When M.2_1 Socket 3 is operating in SATA mode, SATA port 2 will be disabled


Like the Samsung 860 M.2, the 960/970 series are nvme only so that restriction doesn't apply.
