Q-fan step up time

I've now had two maximus boards, an 8 ranger and X hero, and both have never followed my fan step up and step down bios settings. I have my CPU set to 3.6s step up and 12s step down, case fans at 0s step up and 25s step down, but my CPU fans still ramp up and down instantly eg. opening chrome will result in an instant boost in fan speed and than an immediate decrease once it's loaded. With chrome only taking less than a second to load, obviously my step up/step down settings are not being followed. My case fans are virtually silent at my q-fan settings, hence the 0s step up, coupled with the fact the lowest step setting is 25s for case fans. It is definitely the CPU fan spinning up and down instantaneously. FWIW I have 2x Noctua AF-15 PWM CPU fans.

Is this behaviour that others have had/are having with their Maximus boards?

I really want to avoid using AIsuite, but has anyone had any luck using that for fan settings? I know it's not a particularly big deal, and in the past I have just set a level fan setting across all temps, but having my computer on my desk it can get annoying having a symphony of fans going off under light to no load.

Apologies if this has been asked and answered before, but I tried searching "q-fan", "step up time" and got an error saying the words were too short.*

I wouldn't count in it. Corsair is not even interested in a hysteresis solution. Asked on their forum a while back and their devs responded quite quickly. But seeing as how they overwhelmingly deal in CLCs, you should just be using liquid temp anyhow which is not prone to sudden steps up and down in fan speed as occurs when using Straight CPU temp. That doesn't answer the question however as to why Asus keeps inserting the functionality in the interphase build after build with zero ability to use it. Odd

I have liquid cooling, and I do use liquid temp for my fan speeds but under certain low load or ambient temps my water temp hovers around the lower limit for my fans, causing my fan to spin up and stop again seconds later several times per minute.

Nope, still the same as when I posted over a year ago. I have a corsair aio now so my intake rad fans are set using iCUE and exhaust are set in bios. The only way to stop the excessive noise for me was using a temp probe behind the radiator to set my exhaust fan curve (i.e. virtually based off the liquid temp). Plus keeping the max fan speed at a noise level I was comfortable with.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like the ASUS engineers did anything for us.

I wish ASUS would fix this issue. I dont see how this isnt somewhat of a major bug for them. A feature they are advertising on the user interface literally does not work at all in both the BIOS and the FanXpert in AISuite. This has been causing me a lot of headache because my fans constantly ramp up and then down even by just loading a page in chrome.

Off topic:
At least this topic is free of Asus reps. telling users it's somehow their fault for step up not working. See RAM QVL that is not really qualified, microphone volume, audio crackling....
As soon as it is clear as day they messed up, no Asus reps. to be seen for miles with a fix. Like...never.

I have recently bought the Hero X, and i run it with a 9900k, and custom cooling loop, and
having the same problem, as many others with the ramp ups and downs and trying all the solution's in this thread.

I finally downloaded the program Argus monitor, recommended in this thread, and without any prior knowledge, and a short youtube video, i figured out how to get my fans, working together and NO more ramp ups at all, took me about 30-45 minutes of playing around and making a curve.
And it is so nice to have found a working solution.

I only got the program last night, so I am trying the 1 month FREE before i make a purchase, and to see if it holds up, but so far I am a happy camper.

I have exactly the same problem with my TUF Z370-Pro gaming: step up/down time not working. I wonder at this point if it really matters to Asus.

Same for me. The Bios version it originally came with was working fine. I don't remember why I updated my Bios but afterwards it was not working anymore. Anyone who is planning on upgrading their Bios: I would not do it if I don't really need to (RAM support etc.)

Unfortunately, I could not go back to older versions of Bios. It could flash maybe 2 or 3 older version but then it did not work for even older versions.

Edit: I just found that with the version from Mai (2804) it works for TUF Z370-Pro Gaming again
