PCIEX4_3 Bandwidth setting in the BIOS ???

Hi Guys
I have the ROG MAXIMUS X HERO motherboard
Could someone explain what is happening
When I make changes in the BIOS
I have 2 NVMe PCIe drives installed on the motherboard
In socket M.2_1 & M.2_2
I don’t understand what is happening
With PCIEX4_3 Bandwidth
When I have the settings PCIEX4_3 Bandwidth x4 mode & M.2_2 configuration set to x4
And boot into windows 11 and do a CrystalDisk speed test the
Speed results are the same as when I have the settings in the BIOS
Set to
PCIEX4_3 Bandwidth x2 mode & M.2_2 configuration set to x4
I would have thought the changes would affect the speed of the NVMe drives?
TY
