Maximus XI Extreme USB 3 front panel disconnects and i/o reset errors. Data corrupted

Hi,

I have the maximus xi extreme, 9900k, gskill trident 3200mhz, and a define r6 case.

If I connect my seagate backup plus, i get constant i/0 errors. it even corrupted my drive. Luckily i had a back up.

I rma'd the usb cable through Fractal thinking it may be the issue, but it still exists with the new cable.

I then took this cable over to my sons pc, he's using a maximus ix hero with 7700k and corsair memory, ZERO ISSUES with the motherboard, cable and the seagate backup plus external drive.

The disconnecting and i/o errors happens on both usb 3 headers.

Through all of this it seems that there is possible not enough power output on these headers? IDK.

It kids of stinks for this to happen on a $700 motherboard, where the ix hero has ZERO issues.

Do I need to RMA the motherboard?

Thanks!

BTW, these issues are not present on the back panel ports, not the usb 2 front panel ports.

these is only present on the front panel ports correct in the usb 2.0 or 3.0?

Only front panel. In 3.0

2.0 works fine.

Tried connecting an NZXT usb 3 cable and the same issues are there. But the define r6 cable and the NZXT cable both work fine on the IX Hero.

There is a flaw in this board. I took mine in to the store. They tested it with multiple cables and it was the same issue for them. The exchanged the board for me. I brought a new one home, and the same thing happens.

It's pretty sad that a $700 motherboard cant even power a simple mobile drive, when a 3 year old mid range board has no issues at all.

And even at that its kind of nonsense that even trying to connect my drive to this board cause instant corruption to my drive.
