Maximus X Hero MCE Confusion

Hi!

Over the past week or so I've been hunting down a BSOD issue which I think I've traced to a dodgy driver.

Whilst going through this process I've decided to just run my 8700K at stock clocks going forward (retaining XMP however), as my particular CPU overclocks extremely poorly, runs hot and frankly I'm done with the stress! 😛

I've noticed something curious regarding the VCORE based on different BIOS settings that I'm hoping someone can clarify for me:

XMP on, select 'no,' MCE disabled automatically, everything else AUTO: Load 1.344v

XMP on, select 'no,' change MCE back to AUTO, everything else AUTO: Load 1.248v

XMP on, select 'yes,' MCE stays on AUTO, everything else AUTO: Load 1.248v

XMP off, everything else AUTO: Load 1.248v

Why is it that with MCE disabled I'm seeing a higher voltage under load? Typically from what I've been reading it should be the opposite?

Many thanks!

Sorry to bump, but any ideas as to why MCE disabled actually results in a higher voltage?

Okay, further testing:

XMP on, select yes, MCE enabled, SVID behavior Best Case, everything else AUTO: 1.1v under load
XMP on, select yes, MCE disabled, SVID behavior Best Case, everything else AUTO: 1.344v under load

So, SVID behavior only works with MCE enabled.

What is going on? What settings do I need to run at stock?
