I have my LLC set to 5 and set my ia/dc to 0.18 and adaptive mode.. That makes the load line in between LLC 5 and LLC 6 - you get a droop under load, but not as much as LLC5. Adjust your vcore so it is the same under load as you had with LLC6.

thanks for the response , ya i had vdrop on ll=5 , ia/dc=0.01 and got a whea . i noticed the voltege table works in 0.016 v incriments

ill try LL=6 + 0.018 ia/dc and see if i get those spikes from 1.36v to 1.40 v and ill check for vdrop . if all goes good ill switch back to adaptive .

I had a custom load line of LLC 5 and IA AC and DC Load Line of 0.2. To get the same vcore under load, I had to reduce the load line slope to 0.18. All seems OK.
Code X, 5 GHz

thanks to you for IA AND DC LOAD LINE 0.18 (llc level 5)
before, I put 0.01 and vcore 1.365v
with 0.18 the cpu is stable at 1.34v. 5Ghz
I will see a few days and will try 1.335v 😮

when i updated 1602, i had several blue screen during game loading, no during gaming. so I thought the problem was when the CPU dropped its frequency, but with 0.18 is perfect now 🙂 anyway, I increased the vcore and the problem did not disappear...

A few days ago, I updated through EZ Flash without any issues so far.
Configured settings, setup XMP and overclocked to my modest summer settings of 4.8 @ 1.25v.

Everything with my configuration, I'm happy to report, is going smoothly and without any glaring problems.
Realbench and various games have been working great.

Hopefully it's the same situation for everyone else. Best of luck.
In dreams, I walk with you.

Ditto here. 1602 upgrade went flawlessly and is running perfect.

I just got my Maximus X Hero installed and up and running the other day. I see that it has bios version 0802, is it worth it to update the bios, any benefits?

Thanks

Your BIOS is OLD. There are many security and stability improvements in newer BIOS. The best advice is : " always update to the latest BIOS "....no matter what others will say. There is a reason why ASUS releases new bios. It's not for fun. You will see a lot saying that BIOS 1602 is not "better" than the previous BIOS. But no one said it would be "better" or a game changer. But there are improvements and new features....always! New Bios will also improve compability with new hardware, system stability and security. You just can't measure new BIOS in Bencmarks. Bencmarks belong to CPU, RAM, HDD, GPU (Games) NOT BIOS!

I am really hoping that is was shere coincidence that just a few hours after I upgraded the BIOS from 1503 to 1602 my i7 8700K died after leaving my system on all night with just the browser opened and coming back to it in the morning to a non responsive system. Rebooting only gave Q-Code 00 with CPU orange LED lit just beneath the Q-Code readout. It is the first time that a CPU died on me. I got a replacement from the store I got it from after they tested it to confirm it was not getting past POST.

Also I couldn't run the i7 8700K stable at 5GHz with the same Vcore as I did in BIOS 1503 and 1401. I had to up the voltage by .5 V to run stable @ 5GHz. And another thing, I can not run the RAM a t1 like I was able to with 1401, only t2.

With this, it does have an impact on some benchmarks and definitely in real world use.

I am not saying that everyone should stay clear from 1602, I am running it on my new i7 8086k without any issue so far [fingers Xed]. Just saying as it is and as I said before l am hoping it was just coincidence and not some glitch with the Mobo due to the new BIOS 1602 or otherwise.

That's a lot of CPUs to go through in such a short time man!! The lad at the store where I purchased mine from who replaced it, said that there have been a large number of dead 8700K being returned... so... it's not an isolated thing.

He didn't say which motherboards were used with those returned CPUs and I doubt the he would know because he never asked what my mobo was, and I never thought of telling him. So I can not say if some makes or models are possibly killing 8700k more than others?
