Maximus X Formula VRM Temp

Hi,
i got my new Formula and it works fine.
Bios Version 0802
( ok need a little bit more V-Core to my Hero before but thats ok for me 0,015v more )

But my Vrm Temps are i little bit to high in my opinion.
I´ve overclocked my 8700K to 5Ghz with 1,355V Bios LLC5 - after drop in Linx 1,312v .
My VRM temperature is 80 degrees, water is 25-26°C ( Mora 420 + 2 480 Radiators) , my current draw is 185W - 190W

That temperature is higher than my previous X299 Rampage VI Extreme with Monoblock and 7900K @4.8GHZ - there i was at 65-70° C with 290W

Is this VRM Temperature normal or is there a issue maybe with the Thermal Pads under the VRM section Cooler?

Does anyone knows how thick the original Thermal Pad is? So i will change the original Thermal to a better one maybe it helps.
Or is 80°C ok ? My Hero before did not have a VRM Sensor so i don´t know how hot the VRMs are.

Well Batman you may be the first person to post with a X Formula
Is your VRM block connected to your loop?
If you want to change thermal pads you may have to remove and check or purchase a couple different thicknesses
Or you can remove VRM heatsink and apply a very thin layer of non conductive TIM, or check the screws that hold the heatsink to motherboard to make sure they are thightened correctly

I've found same case reports of VRM temp being abnormally high in Korean forums.

The issue seems to be caused by stock thermal pads included within the VRM heatsink; they are not in close contact with the VRM itself.

As you can see in the picture, thermal pads on the top is missing a "pressed mark" from the VRM.

You can probably replace the thermal pads that are thicker to solve this issue.
(But this may void the warranty provided from ASUS itself - can anyone from ASUS confirm this?)

Raja, please enlighten us.
How thick should the replacement Pads be?

I've finished my Maximus X Formula build and VRMs are perfect. Albeit I have them under water they're literally getting no hotter than 59c

Under what load did you measure the vrm temps? Prime 1344 AVX?
I will test it today and post results.

Will be waiting for your result for reference.

Just ordered this board...will receive in 2 days and running full custom loop ....will post results on how this board performs @ 5.0ghz.

Tested the VRM Temps Yesterday:
latest Version of Prime AVX, 1344K, very mild airflow around CPU Socket (Fan @ 800RPM), VRMs reached 60 degrees (40 deg delta) after 30 minutes -> VRMs were not watercooled!
I think these numbers are fine.
Although this is just one figure. I will check if the Thermal pad makes good contact with the VRMs once i find time.

Were your CPU overclocked?
