Just in case someone else notices this, today I install the April 2020 chipset drivers from the ASUS download site. The driver versions of the devices mentioned stayed at a 1968 date. The optional updates continued to show in Windows Update..
I read a Microsoft article which explained some OEMs will install 200 series chipset drivers on 300 series chipsets for compatibility or stability issues, which basically said it was OK to do that.
I allowed the Win 10 suggested Optional updates to install and they have not returned and the devices are showing a 2016 date now instead of 1968.. So far, the system seems to be working normally..

Same board without Wi-Fi here. Installed optional updates to see how it goes. Dates changed to 2016 as you've mentioned. I've rolled everything back to previous drivers to see if optional drivers will appear on windows updates, nope they didn't. Optional drivers totally gone and I'm now suspecting if they'r accidentally released.
