M.2 NVME temps in slot above video card and below the cpu on a Z390-E Gaming

Good evening,

I am new to the M.2 world and recently got a Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB and 1TB drive. I am wondering what temps I should be expecting as currently I have seen the 500GB (main OS Drive) go up to 63C while playing games. Is this normal temps in this kind of environment? My case is the Lancool II and my fan config is front intake 140mm x2, top intake 140mm x2, bottom intake 120mm x2, and a rear 120mm exhaust. The CPU cooler is a Hyper 212 Black with push/pull config. Thanks for any input. Just want to make sure the temps are nothing to worry about.85415

The Safe Operating temps are 0 to 70.

If you don't have heatsink on it might be worth considering one, if you do maybe have more localised fan - you are still within operational safe temps.

They don't actually throttle till aorund 80'ish off memory.

Thank you for the reply. I am using the included ASUS heatsinks on both drives. I think the placement of the top one is maybe not the best since the heat from the video card rising is probably a factor as well.

Normal working temp, without cooling ,but normal loading is approx 35 degrees c

For M.2 Nvme, I dont think so, mine idle aorund 30-33 unless you live very cold climate that is not possible without cooling, under load and under graphics card.....

Thanks for the reply. I think what was meant was that the temps I reported are normal under load but the "idle" load hovers around 35C range. My Nvme slot is located right above the graphics card, not ideal as the heat from the graphics card I believe assists with the raised temps. I am using the included heatsink from ASUS as well. I tried it with and without the heatsink, temps better with heatsink for sure.

**********Maybe I understood his post wrong. Is Tweakfiend saying that my temps are normal without cooling but with cooling it should be around 30-33? If that is the intended message I have to disagree as well. I have never seen mine get that low and I do have the ASUS provided heatsink cooling installed and still getting these temps.

One other question: I see there are 2 drive temps for each Nvme drive. What is the difference between the two?

One will be the memory controller and the other the memory or vice versa would be my guess. I think he might have SSD's non Nvme and misread the post completely.

Might want to look at one of these (or the do version two now)

Thank you so much. I didn't even think about doing a vertical mount. I ordered the Lancool II mount. Hopefully this will help a bit with the heat dissipation effecting the Nvme's. Thank you !!!!!!!

Thank you for the reply. Yes they hover around that temp when idle or light tasks.
