M.2 location on DIMM.2 and protective film

I just got my Maximus XI Extreme. I'm installing a Samsung 970 Pro M.2 into the ASUS DIMM.2. Does it matter on which side the M.2 is installed on?

Also, is there a protective film on the LiveDash OLED display? I see the other two locations where the film is applied on the RGB glossy plastic.

I imagine there is protective film on it, but it is hard to tell. I can see why you don't want to go scratching at it incase there isn't and you scratch the screen. I must admit I've missed some in the past and the heat as made it peel off itself.

Protective film seems hit or miss these days.
Which side of the DIMM.2 doesn't matter for the most part.
Just check your manual for shared lanes and configure around it.
