So I'm posting this to ask if it's possible to run a GPU in the second PCIE 3.0 X16 slot on my Maximus XI Hero while disabling the first slot without needing to remove the GPU in that slot? I used to be able to do that on my old RIVE motherboard but I'm afraid this feature is not available on my current mobo.
For anyone interested in why I want to do this, here is my story:
I have had an order for an ASUS RTX 3080 Strix OC since september 20 and idk what's happening to ASUS but they haven't shipped a single card to the retailer I'm buying from in over a month now. It's even more frustrating that this had to happen when I'm the one next in line to receive my card. I even bought the EK Vector Strix waterblock ready to be mounted but the card is no where to be seen.
I will instead be getting an MSI Suprim X (ordered 10 days ago) before the end of the year and probably cancel my ASUS order and return the waterblock as well, and since there is no waterblock for the MSI Trio/Suprim yet, I will have to wait for that to arrive and I can't strip my current custom loop which is using hardline tubes and that's why I would want to run the MSI card in the second PCIE slot of my mobo without removing my current card (1080 Ti) until a waterblock for it is released and I can finally strip the loop.
