i7-8700k with Rog Maximus XI Formula

Im sorry for my english level.

I am assembling my first PC to parts, and I have a big question regarding the processor and the motherboard. The motherboard is the Rog Maximus XI Formula, and the processor the i7-8700k.

The chipset on the motherboard is the z390, and I know that the processor is specially prepared for the z370 chip, on the contrary that 9th generation processors. Can there be some kind of incompatibility or problem?

First of all, thanks for your help, it's my first time in this forum and I'm entering ROG with enthusiasm.

Thank you. Assuming that then it will give the maximum performance with the motherboard, I would like to ask another question regarding the processor. Is it worth the i7-9700k versus the i7-8700k? Considering the motherboard, and that the 9700k is 9th generation.

Main difference is that the 8700K has 6 cores running 12 simultaneous threads (hyper-threading), while the 9700K has 8 cores running 8 simultaneous threads (no hyper-threading). So, in some cases the 9700K could be slightly faster, yet other times the 8700K could be slightly faster. Also, if you plan to overclock, the 9700K might have better potential because it has a better thermal interface inside.

Don't worry too much about 8th vs. 9th generation. It's not a big difference either way, so if you want to save some money with 8700K, it's still a fine choice.
