G.SKILL F4 DDR4 4000 C19 2x16GB ram - PC not booting with xmp enabled

is there anyone that could help with the G.SKILL F4 DDR4 4000 C19 2x16GB ram on my asus maximus xi extreme and i9 9900k ?

The pc would not even boot when activating xmp in the bios

Can you please help me in having this ram performing the best it could at stock conditions?

The dual kit you have is not on the Asus QVL....you may have some issues trying to get it to work...seems dual 16GB kits are not a favorite of this board....
Have you tried both sticks in different channels...A1/B1 or A2/B2 ...both XMP and manual ?

I just want to add about the asus QVL
So i got curious and went to check if my mem kit is on there (btw running fine with XMP)
according to the asus QVL on there pdf spec sheet my mem is not on there, F4-3200C15D-32GTZR
however, there is a F4-3200C15D-32GTZ with the exact same specs
now i dunno what the difference is between the R version and the non-R version, same timings and capacity
so I went to the G.Skill site and under the QVL there, it's listed for z390 MEXI (all good)
lesson is, check both places

Difference in to 2 kits would most likely be in the IC's...as the GTZR (RGB) would most likely have newer Samsung B dies....the other kit may be more tuned to AMD Ryzen and not Intel...if not the case...it may be tuned to the z170/z270 chipsets...really don't know for sure....you will have better success with a quad kit though with the newer boards.
I do know that speaking with the folks at GSkill...the RGB Trident Z series memory at launch was highly recommended to me ...and thus far has not been a disappointment.

the quad kit on the same speed and capacity has worse timings for similar price
i have a quad kit on x299 same speed but slightly worse timings, benchmarked the latency is worse compared to the dual kit
i do like the idea of having 4 sticks of rgb ram instead of 2 just for the aesthetics
does it put more stress or more difficult to keep stable for 4 sticks vs 2 on dual channel boards?

First thing to keep in mind is the JDEC standard is 2666 MHZ so that is actually stock. Anything over that is an overclock. As stated it’s not on the QVL list which simply means ASUS hasn’t tested it with this board. Another thing against you is the 16 GB sticks. 4x8 beats 2x16 in overclocking and stability pretty much 100% of the time.*

You can try loading parameters manually and I would dial it back to about 3600 and C17. Easier to just put it in auto, save and exit then spam the delete key and it should go back to 2666MHZ and probably C15. From there just jack the MHZ to 3600 raise the latency to C17 and the volts to 1.35. *3600 at C17 is pretty much identical to 4000 C19.*

Time to charge in mS

19/4000 x 1000 = 4.75 mS
17/3600 x 1000 = 4.72 mS (actually just a very thin hair faster)*

Would you suggest to simply return the ram and get some 4 × 8gb ram banks?

I was able to activate xmp1 and set the dram frequency to 3333mzh. Above this number, the pc won't boot.

How do I change the latency and volts?

Right now xmp has set automatically the 2 banks to xmp DDR4- 4000 19-19-19-39-1.35v

From my experience the z370/z390 boards tend to be more compatible with and work better with quad memory kits...especially with memory frequency running higher than 3600mhz..more so with the z390 due to the boards T Topology layout...I've had the same quad kit now that I ran with 3 boards...x99/z370/z390 and have not encountered any memory related issues whatsoever.....be sure to cross reference both the Asus and GSkill QVL's for compatibility.....A little time spent on researching the correct memory for each board will save the user time and frustration when things don't work according to plan.
