Coil Whine with PSU Corsair CX750M and Z370-H

Level 7
Hi! I am 9 years old and I live in Brazil. So, sorry for my english.
My dad built a PC Gamer for me with the follow specifications:

- Intel Core i7-8700 Coffee Lake 8a, Cache 12MB, 3.2GHz
- Intel Optane 16GB - Memory Corsair Vengeance LED RGB PRO 16GB (2x8GB) 3000Mhz DDR4
- SSD Kingston 2.5´ 240GB UV500 SATA III
- WaterCooler Corsair H60 Hydro Series
- Power Supply Corsair CX750M
- DVD Drive ASUS 24X

A dream! But, the power supply Corsair CX750M is making a constant electrical noise (coil whine) related with the processor activity in this build or maybe with the memory access combined. My dad recorded a video to show the problem:
In our tests, this PSU doesn't make noise with other motherbord. So, the problem isn't with the PSU. We’ve tried many situations of plugged in and out components without success.
In the Corsair forum, we found this possible solution:
But, we don't know how to implement that in Z370-H Bios. We update the Bios with the last version and did not fix the problem. The firmware of the memory has been updated too.
We need help to fix the problem with the Corsair solution. Can anybody please help us?
Best regards!

I'm moving your thread to the Z370 section so perhaps another Z370 owner can comment.
A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station…

I had a look at some reviews on my hardware seller of choice (, since I'm from Germany) and literally the first one was about the unit having coil whine. Actually, quite a few people reported coil whine. If I were you, I would return the PSU and get a better, more high quality unit. You also don't need a 750W one. 500W will be more than enough. I have a 500W bequiet straight power e10 (with an oc'd 8700k and 1070ti - still more than enough). The e11 is already out and even better and costs only 5€ more than the cx750m (the 500w one, that is), but I don't know for how much they go where you live.

I had a lot of coil whine with my old PSU (an old Corsair HX750, bought in 2009), but last year I replaced the HX750 with a new RM750x, and the coil whine was gone.

My friend has a CX750 that makes a lot of coil whine but it's working fine.

To be honest I don't think there's a problem with your PC, except that coil whine is really annoying. Well, you can try another PSU and see if the coil whine persists.

Are you from Brazil, right? There's a lot of articles about this, and as far as I read it doesn't cause any problem to your hardware.

Hi! Firstly, thank you xeromist for moving the thread to the right place.
I switched the power supply for a Corsair VS500 and the noise is gone. 🙂 Thank you so much seb0r36 and Ichigeki for the guidance. Unfortunately here in Brazil the CX750M cost around 130€. I paid 77€ for the VS500. The import taxes here are very high. 😞
My PC cost around 1,860€ with this settings.

Good to hear that you were able to fix the issue that way.

I really feel bad for the hardware prices you have over there. My rig (see profile) was a good 150€ less...
