CMR32GX4M4C3466C16 XMP errors on X HERO

Hello,

Just posting this in case others bought the same KIT and had better luck then me.
I had to RMA my CMK32GX4M4B3200C16 because one stick out of four was throwing errors.
Because the retailer did not have the same KIT anymore, they replaced it with CMR32GX4M4C3466C16
I agreed after checking http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1151/ROG_MAXIMUS_X_FORMULA/MEMORY_QVL_0108.pdf and saw the KIT as qualified.

CMR32GX4M4C3466C16 is a DDR4 Corsair @3466 Mhz 16-18-18-36 (4x8GB)
At JEDEC spec, the KIT runs just fine.
At XMP tho, the system does not even boot most of the time. When it does, Windows will just freeze without any BSOD and the system will restart.
I also tried manually setting up the speed and timings without XMP. Tried Auto, Mode1 and Mode 2. Loaded BIOS defaults and only enabled XMP. Same story.
I have managed to get the system as stable as I can by setting DRAM Voltage to 1.400 instead of 1.350, but even tho I could run AIDA64 Cache & Memory and RealBench successfully for about 1 hour, Windows starts very slow and a MemTest86 run shows errors after only 4 minutes.
At the moment, I am running the KIT @3200Mhz with 15-15-15-35, 1.350V and so far, it seems stable. MemTest86 does not show any errors.
Not holding my breath, but hoping for a future BIOS update that will actually support this memory KIT as stated on QVL link above.

So I guess the question is: does anyone else have this memory KIT and can run it at XMP spec? Or at least a manual setup at XMP spec?
Maybe I have such bad luck to hit two bad kits in a row?

There is something really fishy with this combo.
Today I got nothing better to do and loaded XMP again.
It booted just fine, ran all the benchmarks in the world for 2 hours and on top of that, for some reason, the memory ran at lower timings 15-15-15-36 instead of 16-18-18-36.

Rebooted to double check the timings in BIOS and all of them were set to Auto. No clue why they were so low.
Disabled XMP and manually set the KIT factory timings and...luck ran out. No matter what I tried the system is not stable anymore 🙂

Maybe a stupid question, but SPD Info shows some weird numbers (in my opinion) for XMP #1
tRFC1 and tRFC4 aren't too low for XMP considering the values for JEDEC?
Maybe the values stored in the chip are incorrect or read incorrectly?

We have both same memory modules and im having same issues .. i cant run my stick @ 4 slots at the same time, it seems their z370 motherboard are not fully compatible to Corsair CMR series memory modules..

by the way im using z370 strix gaming wifi ac version with bios 0606

Does the KIT appear in QVL for your motherboard?

One quick note. I have learned by talking to ASUS chat that the memory on the qvl ONLY runs at the rated speeds above the default values IF there is an (XMP) value after the memory modules part number. ex.- AX4U3000316G16-BGZ(XMP) in XMP mode. Since yours are CRM16GX4M2C3200C16 without an XMP designator you will have to do the overclocking the old fasion way, (like you/we have been trying). So there is nothing wrong with your CPU or MEMORY or MOTHERBOARD that any RMA's will fix. This is the way the ASUS Z370 motherboards seem to be built. Other board manufactures have higher rated memory on their QVLs that are xmp enabled. If there is no XMP listed on the QVL after the part number, you cannot use the XMP setting to get your memory to run at 3466 Mhz or whatever stated speed others may have. While your(s)/mine, prob most people's, memory is listed on the QVL, unlike in the past, this now just means that it will run at default speeds in the number of slots, 1 dimm, 2 dimm, 4 dimm, listed on the QVL. This might not be new info for some people but it was to me so I thought I would pass it along. ASUS assures me you CAN overclock your memory. Here is their quote

"The motherboard is capable of OC up to 4133Mhz, however we can only guarantee this possible with the XMP models listed on the QVL. We cannot guarantee that those not listed as XMP compatible will over-clock successfully."

AND

"You will have to do manual configurations, which we do not currently assist with due to the possibility of damage to your RAM in the process."

Even though I informed them that there is NO MEMORY listed on their QVL in XMP over 3000Mhz, this is their stance. Sooooo, let the fun continue now that we know our parts aren't broken. (Again, Sorry if this is already known to most people. I didn't mean to waste your time. Just pass on what I haven't seen posted in the other forums I search trying to get my memory up to rated speeds.)

Someone was reporting similar issues with the 16GB kits, too. I tested all three variants that Corsair makes and they were all stable on the board. With that being the case, you're likely going to need to tune things yourself.

If you are referring to https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?100212-ROG-Strix-Z370-G-WIFI-AC-4-Dimms-Slot-Problem/page2 you stated that "I don't have that kit, sorry"
