Audio Popping Issue; z370-F

I did see the other thread about audio popping but it was about the Maximus X and I was having a slightly different issue.

I do not run the drivers. The audio device is turned off via BIOS. I use a DAC/AMP setup via USB.

I have three pops when I start my PC. They are always in the same exact place during boot up. Because of their location, I am fairly confident this is not a software issue.

First pop can be heard at 9 seconds, second pop can be heard at 26 seconds, and 48 seconds with the launch of any application/program that uses sound in Windows.

1) Within the OS: If there are no there are no DPC latency issues, and high performance mode doesn't affect things, this will be down to how the Windows/MS drivers are interacting with the DAC, rather than a board-related problem. The latency may also be an issue if the driver is using ASIO, in which case relaxing the latency in the driver interface may help.

2) Comes down to how things are sequenced during BOOT up. If the DAC's analog outputs are active when USB and drivers are being initialised, you can expect some output to manifest, and this ISN'T a bug. On the motherboard headset analog outputs, we have to use mosfets to latch/unlatch the outputs to prevent this. Your DAC won't have this.

Hmm, I understood a little of what you were saying. Are you simply saying that I am screwed either way?

I know on my previous build that used an Extreme6 ASRock motherboard, I did not have this issue with the same DAC setup. Because of this, I firmly believe this is an issue with the board. I have never touched the latency before either.

The popping once the OS actually loads, in my example, the popping with launching of Discord, is far smaller than the popping of turning on my PC and the booting of Windows. These are the only instances of popping I actually get too. There is no other time that after that initial app loads I get popping.

During power up and booting, there's nothing you can do, as it's comes down to how things are being initialized. In Windows, it will be how the driver is interacting with the OS. On USB DACs, this can be related to sampling rates being switched with different software. My DIY USB dac does this type of thing as I move from one sampling rate to another.

i get audio popp on first cold boot with a z370-H. and when i get the popping i get audio desync on anything i do. youtube, neetflix, games.

but once i just do a simple restart i get no popping at all. i've tried new realtek drivers, ive tried windows default, i've older version of realtek.

only temp fix i have for now, is a USB audio adapter and hook my my speakers up to that.
