Asus Maximus X Hero (wifi AC) audio drivers buggy

Hello everyone,

Recently I came across MANY issues regarding my audio setup when I updated every drivers of my PC.
Indeed, I downloaded all drivers directly from the ASUS support, including audio, and it appears that Sonic Studio 3 and Radar are making crashing everything from my audio now. I didn't have any sound when I was trying to install desesperatly Sonic Studio which is the audio manager of this motherboard.

The only short term solution I found was to only install realtek audio driver (from the same zip file) without any audio manager software (Sonic studio that is). However, I now find my sound is hollow, low, it's missing some things here and there, my audio quality has taken a big toll.

I now seek your assistance to retrieve my previous (or even better) audio quality with this motherboard. What would you suggest I should do ? Getting realtek from somewhere else ? Which audio manager do I should install now that W10 appears to not support Sonic Studio anymore ?

Many thanks in advance for your guidance. 😄

Hi,

Follow the ROG SS3 (FIRST INSTALL/CLEAN INSTALL) tutorial/drivers here : https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?105341-DRIVERS-Realtek-HD-Audio-(UAD)

Will do 🙂

How can you know if my motherboard is SS3 or SS3-DTS ?

Hi,

By looking in the audio specifications of your ROG motherboard, you can see what you need :

Sonic Studio III with Sonic Studio Link + Sonic Radar III = ROG SS3
Sonic Studio III + Sonic Radar III + Sonic Studio Virtual Mixer + DTS Sound Unbound = ROG SS3-DTS
If you do not see Sonic Studio III or DTS Sound Unbound = ROG RTK
