ACPI Event 15 in Windows Event Viewer Maximus XI Apex

Hi everyone. I'm running a 9900KS on a used XI Apex (BIOS 1302). I'm getting this warning in event viewer every time I start Windows:

The embedded controller (EC) returned data when none was requested. The BIOS might be trying to access the EC without synchronizing with the operating system. This data will be ignored. No further action is necessary; however, you should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS. (Source: ACPI)

At first I thought the culprit was HWInfo (it is set to autostart with the OS), since if I enable EC sensor monitoring a huge amount of DPC latency is introduced in the system (as shown by LatencyMon), but even if I completely disable the program the warning still pops up after Windows starts. I have no Asus Utility installed in my system. Is this a bug? Has somebody else experienced it? Since I'm not encountering stability issues (at least for the moment) can I just live with it without too much of a concern or should I try to update BIOS to latest version (1401)? I'm hesitating to do that because with the 1401 I didn't manage to boot into Windows with my RAM overclock (as a matter of fact its changelog says "Improve Memory overclocking rules"), as opposed to 1302 with which everything runs flawlessly. If the warning really means nothing I will happily keep the status quo. Thanks in advance!
