9900K and Maximus X Hero

When I had the 8700K I just followed a guide to overclock it.

Anyone tell me what settings I need to change for the 9900k, like a starting point just for all cores to be 5.0

Thanks

Honestly there is no need to over complicate overclocking. Start with the basic steps and once you have a ball park idea what your CPU and system can do then you fine tune. I get a bit concerned that people spent too much time focusing on the fine tuning aspect before it really is relevant.

Very good advice from Philly.

Really no difference than when you were overclocking your 8700k....if the guide you followed worked...the 9900k will work with it as well...just use 1.28v - 1.30v with LLC 6 for VCore...and adjust accordingly.

I followed the guide, and had all cores at 5GHz, 1.29v LLC was at 7 and avx was 4, I just noticed in the test they did the voltage would drop below 1.29 under load when on mine it shown v at 1.31. Im not positive on which setting is causing that.

Set LLC 6...AVX 2.... my preference I have AVX @ 0

How does this look, I was confused I guess. I was looking at CPU VID when I said my voltage was high but I guess thats not really what the voltage is and not to pay much attention to it when overclocking.

Looks good. Test again with FPU only ticked to see if there's much change in thermals, otherwise looks like you're on track 🙂
