I see you have someone over in your forum questioning the OC and temps already....lol...tell him to rest assured...they are infact legit and on the Z370 X Code board with a single CPU 8 pin...makes one think how much more the chip would do with Z390 X Code with the dual 8 pin...before hitting the throttle limit.....I will post another screenshot @ 5.1 GHZ with SVID enabled .

Yeah, he means well, but he is an AMD fanboy. He is always trolling Intel threads trying to get people to jump ship and settle for something red. Gets pretty old, and irritating to anyone that is not an AMD fanboy. I don't hate AMD at all, they just don't offer anything that holds my interest because I love overclocking and their latest products, while much better than pre-Zen, kind of suck at overclocking. But he is always hating on Intel for some goofy reason.

One of my other forum buddies is getting decent temps like you are. Feel free to post the results you are getting in this other thread:

I asked him to share his 9900K results over here as well. He just got his installed this evening and he is just now getting started tinkering with it.

I know there is going to be some variance from one chip to the next, but it almost seems like some of the scary crap that was getting posted on YouTube and various other social media outlets about temps was kind of blown out of proportion to me. I figured as much, but it's nice to have confirmation it was so based on your results and @Talon results in the other forum.

Phillyflyer, If you don't mind can you try something. I would be curious to know the temp if we where to clock the first 6 core at 5mhz and leave the last 2 one at 3 or 4mhz.

Unfortunately...I can't do that now...I have the rig completely stripped down...Currently in the process of building a new rig with the 9900k and the Asus Z390 Maximus XI Extreme...other than that...I would have tried what you requested my friend.

Nice! Congrats on the new CPU. Had I not already jumped to HEDT from 8700K I would be rocking one now.

Are you planning a delid?

Enjoy!

Edit: I shared your results over here. Hope you don't mind. A lot of folks are interested. If you want to share more examples, please do (here and there). Can you run some wPrime 32M and 1024M and Cinbench R11.5 as well? Maybe some 3DMark 11 physics results?

Nah a bit after that I left to have treatment of my TC just as the 170 boards hit the shelves.Time has a habit of just scooting past. But got over that little bit of a speed bump to my health and back stronger than ever. Like I said pleased to see some of the guys still rocking it.

The 9900K processors are warm little beasts to OC. Looks like you have a good one there mate.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

Seems you have a better chip than my 9700K, initial testing I can boot at 5.4 but can't bench at 5.3 using Chilled water, 1.45 volts to bench at 5.2, on a XI Gene which is a sweet little board

Menthol....that's kinda disappointing....would have expected those chips to have better OC'ing results....Gene or not...and yes...Gene looks to be a sweet board for its size...Apex X potential !
Thinking I can possibly squeeze 5.2GHZ from this chip P95 stable....will be shooting for it...voltage doesn't seem to be the issue that will limit me...temps are my concern at that point.

Wow! Nice work. I have the same motherboard, good to know it's still capable of good results with the 9900k. I was originally planning on getting one but after seeing all the high temps being reported (high 80's and mid 90's) at 5Ghz I was pretty disappointed. Your temperatures look fine though. I also can see that your voltage is very good, many others seem to need 1.35V-1.37V to run 5Ghz stable, that's probably where they really high temperatures are coming from. If I do decide to buy one I might have to buy from silicon lottery because I would want to make sure I can run 5Ghz at a similar voltage to yours to keep the temps down.

What is your cooling setup BTW?
