It should.
Push the clear-CMOS button for good luck and don't be scared if the rig (maybe) restarts itself once or twice.

Awsome thanks I'm stoked to get the 9900ks not that a 8700k @ 5.1 is bad

How did it go? Temps? I have same motherboard and thinking of 9900KS and wondering how hot and if the VRM can handle it.

Haven't installed it yet still at work , the asus x hero z370 wifi doesnt have a vrm temp sensor sadly I dont think I will be keeping a 120mm fan on them and will do a bunch of testing

It will work ,i was running my 9900k on my x code with no issue. You will most likely need higher voltage , my x code needed 1.34v to be stable at 5 all core . My maximus extreme on z390 only need 1.285v.Cooling and hardware where the same, only change was the motherboard.
