Noob Overclock help

Hi all,

i did have my 6700k running fine at 4.5 and then last week i did a bios upgrade as it had been like 12 months since i did one and saw a few new versions.

Anyway when i my boots it says 12% overclocked. i made some changes to the bios ( will add a screen shot) Speccy says 4.00GHZ and so does windows, but CPUZ says 4.5GHZ ?

i am confused.

Hi Jimlad

It looks like you have a very good 6700k.

Trust what CPU-Z shows, windows and speccy shows the base frequency.

All looks good and nice cpu temps too.

If you've left the cpu vccio voltage and cpu system agent voltage on auto, you can likely lower both to 1.15v. The motherboard tends to over volt these voltages.

Thanks I will look at that today. What benefits will this offer the system?

Should help lower cpu temps depending how much they're over volted.

You can also try adaptive mode so your cpu throttles down at idle.
