maximus ix formula boot order

Hi Guys, just finished an upgrade with maximus ix formula, i7-7700k, 16gb g-skill ddr4 and Samsung 960 m.2 drive, started the system with the old Samsung 840 evo ssd with no problems, used Samsung data migration to clone the 840 over to the 960 m.2 with no problems as long as the old 840 is not connected it will boot with the m.2 drive every time, as soon as I connect the 840 it will only boot to that drive regardless of the boot priority, even the boot override will only boot to the 840. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to keep the 840 connected while being able to boot to the m.2 ?
Thanks in advance.

Is this a UEFI install?

Hi Chino, thank you for your reply, it was just a standard install on the 840 which I migrated over to the M.2 drive, I'm not sure what a UEFI install is.
Thanks, regards Steve

Is there a Windows Boot Manager entry on your boot list inside the BIOS?

Yes, there is a Windows Boot Manger (M1:Samsung SSD 960 EVO 500GB) and the same entry but for the 840 EVO 500GB, then each drive is listed separately as well without the "Windows Boot Entry".
